Filifera robusta cross

At Estrella Canyon, we sell a special Filifera-Robusta cross. These bright green foliage palms grow faster than other Washingtonia species, with larger heads and are very cold hardy. These crosses are the fastest of the Washingtonia Palms, with growth rates up to three feet of trunk per year. Our special seed source allows us to keep these crosses consistent, with a spread up to 15 feet wide.

Most of the Filifera-Robusta crosses have recovered nicely from the 2011 freeze in Las Cruces and El Paso. And in Arizona farms, with temperatures in the low teens, the crosses have shown no leaf damage from the cold. As with all Washingtonias, size may be controlled through watering schedules.
